Tenet Preview | Best Collaborations

Tenet Preview

It’s hard to think of a more impactful film-maker in the 21st Century than Christopher Nolan. His latest project – ’Tenet’ – arrives in Cinemas next week, and is the most anticipated movie of the year.

This is a nice reflection on Nolan’s obsession with the craft of storytelling, and the film-making process itself.

10 years on since the release of ‘Inception’, it remains to be seen if ’Tenet’ will be as impactful as his previous epics. I’ll be catching this on a big-screen as early as possible, in a safely distanced and mask wearing manner of course.

Best Collaborations

Having been a regular feature in many of Nolan’s biggest projects, a notable exception is that Hans Zimmer won’t be composing the score for Tenet – turns out he’d already committed to working on Dune!

This got me thinking – who are the best Director/Composer collaborations in history?

A few that came to mind were:

Steven Spielberg & John Williams

  • Jurassic Park
  • Indiana Jones trilogy
  • Jaws

John Williams separately composed the music for both the Star Wars & Harry Potter movies – what a catalogue!

Mani Ratnam & AR Rahman (both Hindi & Tamil movies)

  • Roja
  • Dil Se
  • Iruvar
  • Bombay

Christopher Nolan & Hans Zimmer

  • Dark Knight trilogy
  • Inception
  • Interstellar
  • Dunkirk

Darren Aronofsky & Clint Mansell

  • The Fountain
  • Black Swan
  • Requiem for a Dream

May you live a good life, and may your art live long.
